If you have Popclip loaded just highlight the text below and click when it offers the option Install Extension "Devonthink Quotes" NAME Mac::PopClip::Quick - quickly write PopClip extensions in Perl. The new Popclip Snippet feature makes it very easy to add a new extension. It works but I would prefer to be able to activate this more easily by simply selecting text while reading a PDF inside Devonthink. So I added that under System Preferences/Keyboard/Shorcuts: I wanted to figure a way to automate this a bit since there is no pre-defined keyboard shortcut for that feature. Fortunately, Dock Applet Builder is short, so I’ve included a full screenshot below and will update this story and the MacStories Shortcuts Archive with links when I can generate them.A feature I find to be convenient is the “Insert Quote” dropdown under Annotations - this lets me create an Annotations file with specific quotes from a PDF as well as links to that page: I don’t have an iCloud link for Dock Applet Builder to share yet due to some issues Apple seems to be having with the Shortcuts Gallery and/or shortcuts signing at the moment. Also, although keyboard shortcuts can be scripted with AppleScript, that method causes an error in Shortcuts, which is why I used BetterTouchTool’s ‘Send Keyboard Shortcut’ action. Fortunately, the windows can be just as easily closed after each shortcut is processed, avoiding a deep stack of windows. I’d rather not have to open each shortcut file to generate its Dock applet, but it’s the only reliable way I’ve found to automate the process. In text editors, avoid incorrect text being pasted when the user presses Command-V immediately after selecting text. Exclude PopClip from apps running under Parallels Desktop, VMware Fusion and Crossover. Use extension settings to determine whether it strips Google Analytics strings only, or all query strings. Fix a freezing bug that could happen when activating the Search action, or using extensions in a browser.
